 Fungicide Bronopol for Water Treatment CAS 52-51-7

Bronopol (Bropol) is a white crystalline powder with the chemical name 2-bromo-2-nitro-1,3-propanediol. Other names include bronopol, bacteriostatic alcohol, etc. Its CAS number is 52-51-7, its molecular formula is C3H6BrNO4, and its molecular weight is 199.99. It is highly soluble in water, ethanol, pro pylene glycol, ethyl acet ate, etc., slightly soluble in oil, and insoluble in chloro form, ace tone, etc.
The main application fields of bronopol are cosmetics and leather antisepsis. In agriculture, it is mainly used to prevent and control rice bakanae disease. In addition, it can also be used in industrial circulating water, paper pulp, coatings, plastics, cooling water circulation systems, as well as sterilization, mildew prevention, anti-corrosion, algae removal, etc. for industrial purposes.
The generally recommended addition amount is 0.02~0.05%, and the pH value range is 3~8. It is better to add it below 50ºC. It can be used in conjunction with IPBC, CMIT/MIT, etc. to have a synergistic anti-corrosion effect.
Application:
1. Bronopol (Bropol) is a bactericide that can effectively control a variety of plant pathogenic bacteria. For example, cotton seed treatment can prevent and control cotton black arm disease and bacterial blight caused by Xanthomonas gossypii without causing any phytotoxicity to cotton. It can also be used for rice bakanae disease. The recommended concentration is 800~1000mg/L.
2. In cosmetics, bronopol (Bropol) can be used in various leave-on and wash-off products such as creams, lotions, shampoos, and wet wipes. In agriculture, it is an effective fungicide and can be used to control cotton angular spot, cotton black arm, rice bakanae, etc.
2. In addition, it also has a wide range of anti-corrosion, sterilization, algae removal and other applications in the industrial field.
