2-methylimidazole is an intermediate of the drug Medrol and the feed growth promoter dimethazole, and is also a curing agent for epoxy resins and other resins. As a medium temperature curing agent of epoxy resin, it can be used alone, but it is mainly used as a curing accelerator for powder Chemicalbook molding and powder coating. Hygroscopic, soluble in water, alcohol, insoluble in benzene. Irritating and corrosive to skin and mucous membranes. This product is used for the synthesis of metronidazole and dimetazole, and is also the curing agent of bad oxygen resin.

Application	2-Methylimidazole is used as a raw material for the preparation of nitroimidazole antibiotics, which is useful in combat anaerobic bacterial and parasitic infections. It is used as an active pharmaceutical ingredient intermediate such as metronidazole and dimetridazole. 2-Methylimidazole is a monomethylated imidazole that can be used as a building block in the preparation of a wide range of biologically active compounds. 2-Methylimidazole as well as other imidazoles can be use as catalyst for refolding of enhanced coloured fluorescent protein.
