1. Water Treatment Field
- Scale Inhibitor: Used in industrial circulating water, boiler water, and reverse osmosis (RO) systems to inhibit the formation of scale such as calcium carbonate, calcium sulfate, and calcium phosphate, especially suitable for water with high hardness and high alkalinity.
- Corrosion Inhibitor: By chelating metal ions in water (such as Fe², Ca², Mg²), it reduces the corrosion reaction on the metal surface and protects pipes and equipment.
- Formulation with Other Agents: Often formulated with polycarboxylic acids (such as PAA, HPMA), zinc salts, etc. into composite water treatment agents to enhance comprehensive performance.
2. Metal Processing and Cleaning
- Metal Cleaning Agent: Used for surface treatment of metals such as steel, aluminum, and copper to remove rust and scale, while preventing metal corrosion during the cleaning process.
- Electroplating Pretreatment: As an additive in electroplating solutions, it improves the uniformity and adhesion of the coating.
3. Paper - making and Textile Industries
- Paper - making Industry: Inhibits the oxidation of pulp by metal ions (such as Fe³) during the pulping process, improving the whiteness and strength of paper.
- Textile Printing and Dyeing: As a chelating agent, it eliminates the adverse effects of metal ions in water on dyes and fabrics, improving the uniformity of dyeing.
4. Other Applications
- Agriculture: As a chelating agent for trace elements (such as zinc and iron), it is used to prepare foliar fertilizers or water - soluble fertilizers to improve nutrient absorption rate.
- Oilfield Industry: Used in oilfield water injection systems to prevent scale formation in formations and equipment, and at the same time inhibit corrosion caused by sulfate - reducing bacteria (SRB).
