DMDM is a colorless and transparent liquid with a slight aldehyde odor, and crystallizes when the ambient temperature is lower than 15ºC.

1,3 dimethylol-5,5 dimethyl hydantoin, also known as DMDM hydantoin, English abbreviation DMDMH, DMDMH is a broad-spectrum and efficient antibacterial preservative.
 

Dimethyloldimethyl hydantoin is used as preservative in a broad number of household and industrial cleaners to prevent spoilage from microorganisms. It is widely used in liquid cosmetics such as shampoos, conditioners, creams, body washes, etc. It is safe and effective for rinse-off and leave-on products.
