Propargyl Alcohol is a colorless liquid with a balsamic odor, soluble in water, alcohols, and ethers, and is highly stable. It has a wide range of applications in many fields:
1. Industrial applications: propargyl alcohol is commonly used as a rust remover, chemical intermediate, corrosion inhibitor, solvent, and stabilizer. Its terminal alkynes can "click" with azides to produce hydroxymethyl-substituted triazoles. In addition, propargyl alcohol can also undergo a smooth Sonogashira cross-coupling reaction with iodobenzene in the aqueous phase to produce propargyl alcohol-substituted aromatic compounds. These properties make propargyl alcohol an important reagent in organic synthesis and chemical reactions.
2. Chemical synthesis: propargyl alcohol is highly valuable in organic synthesis. It can react with a wide range of compounds to produce structurally complex but useful compounds. For example, by reacting with different catalysts and substrates, it is possible to synthesize functionalized derivatives and so on.
