Product Name: Kojic Acid

 

The scientific name of kojic acid is 5 - hydroxy - 2 - hydroxymethyl - 1,4 - pyrone. It is a weakly acidic organic compound produced by microorganisms through the fermentation process, and its English name is KOJIC ACID. High - quality kojic acid appears as almost white or beige needle - like crystals. It is highly soluble in water, alcohol, slightly soluble  insoluble, and in benzene. Its molecular formula is C6H6O4, with a molecular weight of 142.1 and a melting point of 153 - 156°C. CAS number: 501 - 30 - 4.

 

Applications

 

(1) In the cosmetics field: Under the catalytic action of tyrosinase, tyrosine undergoes complex oxidation and polymerization with oxygen free radicals, and finally melanin is synthesized. Kojic acid can inhibit the synthesis of tyrosinase and is safe and non - toxic. Therefore, kojic acid has been incorporated into toners, facial masks, emulsions, and skin creams. Kojic acid at a concentration of 20 μg/ml can inhibit 70 - 80% of the activity of various tyrosinases (or polyphenol oxidase PPO). The recommended addition amount in cosmetics is 0.2 - 1.0%.

 

(2) Kojic acid is a raw material for the production of maltol and maltol.

 

(3) In the medical field, since kojic acid has no mutagenic effect on eukaryotic cells and can eliminate internal free radicals in the human body, it has been used as a raw material for cephalosporin antibiotics.

 

(4) In the agricultural field, kojic acid can be used in the production of biopesticides. The biological micro - fertilizer (dark red liquid) made by adding 0.5 - 1.0% kojic acid can be widely used as a crop growth promoter, whether it is sprayed as a foliar fertilizer at a low concentration or applied to the roots as a growth and yield - increasing agent.

 

(5) In other fields, kojic acid can also be used as an iron analysis reagent, film spot remover, etc.

 

 

Storage and Preservation: This product should be stored in a ventilated, dry, and light - shielded place. The effective shelf life is 3 years.

 

Packaging: Kojic acid is packaged in an inner plastic and aluminum - foil bag, with an outer cardboard drum, and can be customized according to customer requirements.
