Physical Properties

• Appearance: Brown - red, translucent and viscous substance.
• Solubility: Soluble in water to form a translucent or milky - white liquid. It has good stability in the presence of acids, alkalis and hard water.
• Chemical Characteristics: It belongs to anionic surfactants. In its molecule, a strongly hydrophilic sulfonate group is connected to a hydrocarbon group, showing strong surface activity and good solubility in water at low temperatures. It is stable in alkaline, neutral and weakly acidic solutions and has the property of hygroscopic deliquescence.

Applications

• Metal Processing Industry
  • Rust Prevention: It is a commonly used rust inhibitor in the metal processing industry. It forms a dense molecular film on the metal surface, isolating water, oxygen and corrosive media. For example, adding 3% - 5% in the inter - process rust - preventive oil can protect steel parts from corrosion for 3 - 6 months in open - air storage. When compounded with barium petroleum sulfonate for long - term storage oil, the rust - prevention period can exceed 2 years.
  • Emulsification: Used in cutting fluids, emulsified oils, etc. Adding 5% - 15% can solve the flash rust problem of cast iron workpieces after processing and reduce the tool wear rate. It is also used in stamping oils. When compounded with sulfurized fatty acid esters, it can take into account both the rust prevention of the mold and the forming accuracy of the material.
• Industrial Cleaning Field: Used as an emulsifier in alkaline cleaning solutions, accounting for 8% - 12%. It can remove oil stains on the metal surface and form a temporary rust - proof film, which is suitable for the pre - treatment of auto parts before electroplating.
• Petroleum Extraction Field: It can be used as an auxiliary component of drilling fluids and crud oil demulsifiers.
• Textile and Dyeing Field: Used as a textile and dyeing assistant, it can remove oil stains and dirt on the surface of textiles. It can also reduce the surface tension of water and enhance wettability, which is helpful for the dissolution and dispersion of solid substances.
• Detergent Field: It is one of the main components of liquid detergents.
• Other Fields: Used as an emulsifier or dispersant in coatings. It can also be used as an emulsifier for  polymerization.
